چکیده

We present observations of CO, CO and of H2O in the middle and far-infrared taken with the ISO-SWS and ISO-LWS spectrometers toward two positions in the Galactic Center region (Sgr A and GCS-3). Both ice and gas phase molecules are detected. The ISO data have been complemented with observations of the J=3-2 and J=7-6 lines of CO carried out at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory. The ISO and CSO data indicate that the absorbing gas is extremely cold, TK ≃ 10 K, suggesting that it is located in the dark clouds of the different spiral arms that intersect the line of sight towards the Galactic Center. From the analysis of the CO absorption we derive CO gas phase column densities of 1.1 and 0.7 10 cm towards Sgr A and GCS-3 respectively. The H2O gas column density in the direction of Sgr A is ≃ 2 10 cm. The derived CO/H2O and gas/solid abundance ratios corresponding to these cold clouds are remarkably similar along the two lines of sight. We find that nearly all the CO is in the gas phase, while the H2O is almost entirely frozen onto the surfaces of cold dust grains. Finally, the Ngas+ice(CO)/Ngas+ice(H2O) abundance ratio is ≃ 5 implying that H2O formation processes are highly efficient. Infrared observations of hot gas and cold ice toward the low mass protostar Elias 29 ?

We have obtained the full 1-200 µm spectrum of the low luminosity (36 L) Class I protostar Elias 29 in the ρ Ophiuchi molecular cloud. It provides a unique opportunity to study the origin and evolution of interstel-lar ice and the interrelationship of interstellar ice and hot core gases around low mass protostars. We see abundant hot CO and H 2 O gas, as well as the absorption bands of CO, CO 2...

New CO observations at the center of cooling flow in Perseus cluster [4] show a clear correlation of the molecular gas with the previously detected H-α filaments [1]. In this poster, we present high resolution multi-phase simulations of the Perseus Cluster, taking into account the AGN feedback in form of hot buoyant bubbles. These simulations show that significant amount of gas can cool far fro...

Extent of Warm and Diffuse Clouds

We present a follow-up observation on Geballe and Oka (2010, ApJ, 709, L70), who found high column densities of H+3 100 pc apart from the Galactic center on the lines of sight to 2MASS J17432173 2951430 (J1743) and 2MASS J17470898 2829561 (J1747). The wavelength coverages on these sightlines have been extended in order to observe two key transitions of H+3 — R(3, 3) l and R(2, 2) — which constr...

1 Abstract The existence of cooling flows in the center of galaxy clusters has always been a puzzle, and in particular the fate of the cooling gas, since the presence of cold gas has never been proven directly. X-ray data from the satellites Chandra and XMM-Newton have constrained the amount of cooling, and it was realized that feedback and heating from a central AGN and its jets could reduce t...
